“Moosh started back in 2018 as a community project meant to profile and highlight people across our food systems who were traditionally under-recognized for their contributions towards our food culture and the various hospitality programs and events that were made possible only through their products and support.
The deeper we went looking for a more meaningful and measurable impact to make, the more people and groups we found with immeasurable talents and skills that were being equally used and going unrecognized by both collaborators, media and various institutions.

The word “Moosh” means “mouse” in Farsi, inspired by the parable “The Camel & Mouse” by Rumi which teaches us that we must never be too proud or too boastful in order to accept help when needed, and that each person has something astonishing to contribute to one another, and it is in this exchange of people coming together and collaborating through their best capabilities that we found the inspirations for the community we sought to create through Moosh. The mouse also represents an underestimated capability, a figure of resilience and bravery, and a nick name I had growing up that still lives with me whenever I go back home to visit my Iranian family.
With a purpose to serve, on behalf of the underrepresented, the marginalized and the traditionally disenfranchised peoples throughout our food ways, and with community and collaboration as our technique to rectify the many shortcomings across our industry, Moosh carries this message, that together we can perhaps be the change we wish to see.
With over 1000 project partners and collaborators, hundreds of social impact programs and products to date, and a few dozen case studies from across the various food cultures of the world, we’ve found this space of work and service more meaningful that anything we could have imagined, and we look forward to our continued grow and the various challanges that we have us imagine how to serve our communities better in the years to come.”
